Whether it's the first time in your life or whether you're coming back after 20 years, Upper Iowa University will work with you to fit college into your busy life and coordinate with your military obligations.

Stop by or call the UIU-New Orleans to find out about our evening courses. Upper Iowa also offers online and self-paced programs that can travel with you as you serve your country here and overseas. However you decide to blend the coursework to earn your college degree, UIU accepts the credits from all Upper Iowa courses.

Upper Iowa has classrooms located at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans and is available to both military personnel and civilians in the area.  Upper Iowa offers six eight-week sessions during the academic year and may give credit for your civilian and military experience. Upper Iowa has been recognized by Military Advanced Education and by GI Jobs as one of the nation’s top military-friendly universities. UIU is also a member of the Servicemembers Opportunities Colleges, a Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership institution, and teams with both the Coast Guard Institute and Army National Guard Education Support Center. UIU has articulation agreements with Nunez and Delgado Community Colleges in New Orleans to assist transfer students, and partners with the Fraternal Order of Police and the Louisiana State Troopers Association to provide quality education to law enforcement officers.   • Students can take just 2 courses most sessions and graduate on schedule.
  • Get a jump on completion by transferring up to 90 college credits from other colleges. Check out articulation agreements that might smooth the transfer process.

  • UIU accepts all military and veterans' aid and offers military tuition grants.
  • Sometimes your professional experience and test scores can earn you college credit.  Ask about qualifying for experiential credits.
