Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Business Analytics and Data Science? How do I know it’s a good fit for me?

There is a huge demand for data professionals, so whether it’s Business Analytics or Data Science, there are excellent careers waiting on the other side of graduation. Business Analytics, however, is not just about data — it involves both business communications and problem solving, whereas Data Science is far more focused on independent coding work.

You’ll need a basic statistics knowledge for these roles, but you’ll also need to understand how people and businesses work in order to connect the dots. You don’t need to be a math all-star for this.

Can I work in data if I don’t love math?

You do not need to be a mathlete to be successful in Business Analytics. There are still minimum math requirements, but the approach is far more holistic and leverages everything from design to interpersonal skills. Strategic, “connect the dot” thinkers will thrive here.

What industries can I work in?

In today’s world, there is demand for analysts in just about every industry. Professional Sports Leagues, Marketing, Oil & Gas, Green Energy, Pharmaceuticals, or Real Estate. In just about every sector there are open positions for data analysts. This provides a huge amount of choice for graduates, but also security because it’s possible to have multiple backup plans in this career.
