Who is my academic advisor?

You can find which advisor is assigned to assist you in myUIU. Log in and select the Academics tab.  Click on the Advising-Students on the left hand side.  Under the “My Degree Program” click “View all Details” and then the “Advising Worksheet”.

Where do I purchase my books?

Having the course materials is very important to your success in each class. View UIU’s online bookstore.

What do I do if I am struggling in a class?

There are many strategies and resources available at UIU to help you succeed. Some strategies include: talk to your instructor, visit instructor office hours, utilize tutoring and writing services, meet with your academic advisor, or set up a meeting with Academic Success at 563-425-5336.

When do classes start and end each session?

Upper Iowa University posts an academic calendar each year. Double check the academic catalog before making travel plans! 

What grades do I need to stay in good academic standing?

A student must meet the following standards to be considered in good academic standing:
Undergraduate students must maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average for the appropriate classification:
0 to <30 credits- 1.75 cumulative GPA
30 to <60 credits- 1.9 cumulative GPA
>60 credits- 2.00 cumulative GPA

Graduate students must maintain a 2.50 cumulative GPA with 6 or fewer classes; students with 7 or more completed graduate credits need a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.

*Completed credits include transfer credits toward degree plus Upper Iowa University letter grades of A to D-
