What to expect:
- Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) is prorated by the number of days in the month. If your classes start later than the first of the month or end before the last day of the month, your payment will be prorated by the actual number of days in classes.
- Withdrawing from some or all of your courses could result in a debt with the VA unless mitigating circumstances are present. Failure to attend must be reported to the VA and may result in a debt with the VA.
- VA education benefits pay for the completion of degree programs; thus, only courses required for a student’s degree will be certified for benefit payment. Repeat courses may not be covered by VA education benefits. Confirm with your Academic Advisor prior to registering.
- Student should monitor their VA payments and UIU Student Account each session to ensure VA compliance and accuracy. If you have questions, please contact the VA Education Call Center (1-888-442-4551), your SCO and/or UIU Student Financial Services, as applicable.
- Your grades do matter. The VA will be notified of academic probations and suspensions, which may result in suspension of entitlement. Seek assistance from your Academic Advisor and other UIU Academic Resources.
- If you are under Chapter 1606, Chapter 1607 or Chapter 30, you are responsible to verify your attendance each month to receive payment. Verify attendance online at WAVE or by calling 877-823-2378.
