Disability Services: Resources for Students
The purpose of UIU Disability Services is to provide support to students, faculty, and staff through our informative online resources and disabilities service personnel in compliance with ADAAA guidelines. A student seeking accommodations should contact the Director of Disability Services (DDS) as early in the term as possible.
As a student of Upper Iowa University, library resources (online journal databases, e-books, newspaper access, citation help, etc.) are available. If travel to the campus is not feasible, you can access the library through the University’s website. Go to: www.uiu.edu/library. To use any of the materials listed on the site, you can log in using your myUIU username and password. NetTutor is a free online tutoring service integrated directly into the UIU LMS, so students have single sign-on access. Trained, expert tutors are available in a variety of subject areas. A full list of course offerings and their schedules can be found on the NetTutor webstite.
To access NetTutor’s free online tutoring support:
- Log into uiuLearn
- Click “Student Resources”
- Select NetTutor
- Click on the subject area for which you need a tutor and follow the prompts.

Read&Write literacy software solutions help struggling readers and writers, students with learning disabilities, and English Language Learners access to the support tools they need at school, work, or home. Read&Write ensures every learner has the tools necessary to reach their potential, build confidence and independence, and succeed. The Read & Write Gold literacy software is available to all UIU students. Once you get to this page, you'll need to login to myUIU. Follow the appropriate instructions to download Read and Write Gold to your PC or MAC.
