FYS 122 First Year Seminar

The First Year Seminar transitions Center/Online/Self-Paced students to Upper Iowa University and higher education while promoting success through their academic and professional careers. Using a collaborative learning approach, you will be guided through an intellectual journey to develop your curiosity, increase your critical thinking skills, and produce effectiveness and efficiency when creating academic discussions, oral presentations, and college-level writing. You will also engage in self-exploration that will foster growth in motivation, self-awareness, personal responsibility, time management, study skills, and personal and academic integrity. Meets the success in higher education requirement in The Peacock Professional Experience (“general education”). Note:  It is expected that all students with fewer than 24 semester hours of transfer credit take the FYS course during their first year of enrollment.
