With Upper Iowa University’s return to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa, high school and current college students will once again have the opportunity to win UIU tuition awards and free classes. To enter the respective drawings, students are encouraged to visit the University’s information booth, located in the Varied Industries Building during the August 12-22 event.

To be eligible to win one of two one-year tuition awards, entrants must be at least 16 years of age by Sunday, August 22. The award is valid only for students who wish to attend classes at UIU’s Fayette Campus. In addition, students may register for a chance to win a free undergraduate or graduate class at any UIU center or online. Eleven free classes will be awarded. All entrants receive a free pair of sunglasses.

Upper Iowa faculty, staff and alumni will operate the information booth from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. each fair day. In addition to registering for prizes, the public is invited to stop by to learn more about UIU and purchase Peacock apparel and merchandise. Alumni who visit the booth may register for a free gift.

Since its inception in 1857, UIU’s unwavering commitment to accessible higher education and lifelong learning ensures that current and future UIU students are provided with the skills they need to be successful in the classroom, career and life. A private, nonprofit university, UIU provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 4,500 students at over 20 U.S. locations, including its main Fayette Campus.

Most students are eligible for endowed or institutional scholarships to further lower the cost of their UIU education. Students who are completing a two-year degree at another college are encouraged to inquire about UIU’s transfer tuition scholarship program available at Fayette Campus; eligible students earn a scholarship of up to $20,145. In addition, UIU’s Corporate Advantage Partnership provides tuition grants and other benefits to employees of participating companies.

With a Universitywide 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio, the UIU experience helps inspire students to reach their full potential. This kind of hands-on learning is a key reason why 94% of UIU graduates are employed or continuing their education within 6 months of graduation [Source: 2020 Graduate Survey/Application, 1158 responses].
