Frequently Asked Questions

Can I nominate myself or a fellow student for admission?

Yes, you may do so. However, the nomination must be verified by the Office of the Registrar.

I’m currently incarcerated. How do I join?

Please make sure that your FERPA contact is up-to-date with UIU, and notify us in writing that you would like to join and to send the invitational information to your contact. Your contact would be responsible for payment and arrangements to receive your certificate.

What is the induction ceremony?

In many academic organizations, incoming members are inducted (or initiated). This induction ceremony, held in April of each year, consists of meeting fellow members, honorary inductees, and participating in the ritual (induction). The lifetime membership fee is collected by Sigma Beta Delta’s headquarters, and all documents are then completed and shipped either to UIU or to your address. The fee is lifetime.

Can I put Sigma Beta Delta on my resumé?

Absolutely! When you are inducted, make sure to promote it!
