An introduction to major biomolecules, including amino acids, proteins, enzymes and enzyme kinetics, carbohydrates, nucleotides, nucleic acids, and lipids. Emphasis is on chemical properties, structure-function relationships, and methodologies for purification and structural determination.  Includes review of basic thermodynamics and properties of aqueous solutions.  Recommended: BIO 135
