Upper Iowa University has once again been named a “Best for Vets” college by Military Times. UIU is ranked 48th nationally and 8th in the Midwest region among nonprofit four-year colleges and universities.

“This repeated recognition is a testament to the wide variety of programming and services offered to our nation’s military personnel by Upper Iowa University,” Brandy Branstetter, UIU director of military affairs/midwest region, said. “The UIU faculty and staff greatly appreciate the commitment it takes for our servicemen and –women to serve our country. In turn, we are deeply honored to provide the entire military family the chance to fulfill their military commitment without leaving any career objectives behind. We welcome the opportunity to help them discover and achieve an Education Built for Life.”

Since its inception in 1857, UIU’s unwavering commitment to accessible higher education and lifelong learning ensures that current and future UIU students are provided with the skills they need to be successful in the classroom, career and life. A private, nonprofit university, UIU provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 4,500 students at over 20 U.S. locations. Located at its main Fayette, Iowa, campus, UIU’s Military and Veterans Service Center provides a relaxing space for veterans and military-affiliated students to study and connect with other students.

UIU offers a wide variety of educational opportunities tailored to fit the dynamic lifestyle of today’s military personnel and their families. In addition to no application fee and other cost-saving programs, UIU offers the Patriot Grant for all veterans and their families and active DOD card holders. UIU has also extended its commitment to its active duty service members with the creation of the Military Family Grant. This grant extends the University’s $250 per credit hour tuition rate for undergraduate courses to the spouses and dependents of active duty, National Guard, and reserve servicemembers for all undergraduate classes.

According to the Military Times, the 2021 Best for Vets: Colleges 2021 rankings are the largest and most comprehensive rankings of schools for military service members and veterans, helping them to make important decisions about their education.
