Outdoor Pursuits operates out of UIU’s Recreation Center at Fayette Campus and is only available when the Recreation Center is open.

Rental Equipment

As part of UIU’s Outdoor Pursuits program, the UIU Recreation Center provides a variety of outdoor recreation equipment that is available to rent at no charge to UIU students. To checkout or return equipment, stop by the front desk of the UIU Recreation Center during open hours.

Items available for rent include: Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, rollerblades, skateboards, longboards, grills, coolers, backpacks, canoes, kayaks, life jackets, paddles, wet suits, dry bags, throw bags, car carriers, bikes, helmets, locks, sleds, ice skates, Frisbees, cornhole sets, spikeball, lawn games, fishing supplies, and more!

Bike rentals must be returned by the end of the day in order to preserve the quality of the bicycles. However, if needed, a bike can be checked out again the next morning. All other equipment rentals must be returned within 2 business days. If interested in extending your rental period, please contact the UIU Recreation Center. A late fee of $10 per day will be assessed if an item is not returned on the due date. After 3 days, a charge will be assessed for the full value of the equipment. Renters will be charged a damage fee if equipment is returned dirty or broken.

Adventure Trips

UIU’s Outdoor Pursuits offers a variety of organized outdoor activities, events and adventure trips to all UIU students at little to no cost. The trips are a great opportunity to explore the area, meet new people and spend time with friends. All skill levels are invited to participate. Instruction and lessons will be provided as needed.

All participants must sign a waiver and medical release form before engaging in any activities offered by Outdoor Pursuits. The cost of these activities vary depending on the duration and type of activity. Transportation is provided. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis.
