Brick by Brick
Marking 170 Years of Upper Iowa University

About
In 2027, Upper Iowa turns 170, and we’re marking the milestone with a new welcoming entrance monument—built the same way the University was founded: one gift at a time.
The first brick will honor Elizabeth and Robert Alexander, whose gift founded Upper Iowa University in 1857 and created a place generations of Peacocks have called their own.
Now, 170 years later, we have the opportunity to build the next piece of that legacy together. The monument will be a place to gather, take a photo, celebrate a milestone and come home to UIU, with each brick carrying the name of a Peacock, family member or friend whose story has become part of ours.
Creating a place for every Peacock
Every brick after the Alexanders’ is available for the same $1,000 gift. Whether you graduated from Fayette decades ago, studied at a UIU center or online, are honoring someone you love, or simply believe in what Upper Iowa represents, there is a place for your name here.
Early Design Concept
A final design has not been selected, but when the monument is revealed during Homecoming 2027, it will welcome everyone who visits campus from entrance lawn.
