SPED 581 Special Education Practicum

This course is a field-based practicum designed to support in-service educators in applying special education theory, evidence-based practices, and professional dispositions within an authentic K-12 special education setting.  Candidates complete 60 hours under the guidance of a licensed cooperating teacher and university instructor.  Emphasis is placed on data-based decision making, the Iowa SDI Framework, High-Leverage Practices (HLPs), collaboration with paraprofessionals and general education staff, and reflective practice.
