Group Fitness

The Upper Iowa Recreation Center offers a multitude of group fitness classes to assist in achieving any fitness goals. Group fitness classes are open at no additional cost to all UIU students and are available to UIU Employees and Community members for a small fee. While class offerings vary from one session to the next, common class offerings include Body Toning, Cardio Kickboxing, Low Impact, Muscle Attack, Bootcamp and Yoga.

Class offerings, class fees and group fitness schedules will be posted prior to each session. Classes are on a first-come, first-served basis. If the class meets its capacity, instructors have the authority to turn participants away. The UIU Recreation Center also reserves the right to alter or cancel class due to limited participation.

Personal Training

The Upper Iowa Recreation Center offers one-on-one personal training sessions with our certified personal trainers. Our personal trainers will perform fitness assessments to determine your current fitness level and create personalized workout programs to help you achieve your fitness goals. Whether your goals are to lose a couple of pounds, increase your strength or just keep you on track, UIU personal trainers are here to help!

Assessment & Training Services

Accurate body composition and fitness assessments can help determine your current level of physical health, evaluate your progress and set goals to ensure the proper selection of exercises for your fitness program. Fitness assessments are a free complimentary service to our members. Available fitness assessments include:

  • Body composition test
  • Muscular endurance test
  • Muscular strength test
  • Cardiovascular test
  • Flexibility test

All tests are given by trained professionals. Ask the front desk for more information.

Personal Training Options

All personal training packages include one-on-one sessions (one hour per session) as well as pre- and post-program fitness assessments.

  • 8 sessions: $128
  • 12 sessions: $185
  • 16 sessions:$240
  • 24 sessions: $350
  • Buddy training (2 clients) 1 session: $24

Student Employment

Personal Trainers/Group Fitness Instructors

The UIU Rec Center recruits students on Campus interested in becoming fitness instructors and personal trainers. These students participate in a session-long training which is held once per semester. The training includes weekly class sessions as a training group as well as observation hours and practicum opportunities. Following completion of the training, students are able to serve as instructors and trainers at the Rec Center.

Personal Training is an hour one-on-one training session with a certified personal trainer to help you accomplish your fitness goals. Personal trainers perform fitness assessments to determine your current fitness level and create workout programs to improve your trouble areas. Whether your goals are to lose a couple of pounds, increase your strength or just keep you on track, UIU personal trainers are some of the best professionals.
