International Education Week at UIU
Upper Iowa University’s Center for International Education invites the entire Peacock community to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange programs worldwide as part of International Education Week from Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18. A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, the annual event promotes programs that attract future leaders from the United States and abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.
Enjoy one of the many events taking place over the week. In addition, dining services on the Fayette campus will spotlight a dish from a different region of the world each day.

Monday, November 14 at 1:30pm: Free Yoga with Kristina
Join MBA student and graduate assistant for women’s basketball, Kristina Karp, in the Rec Center at 1:30pm for gentle flow yoga. Kristina is from the Ukraine and has found yoga very balancing during this tumultuous time back home.
Monday, November 14 at 2:30pm: ISEP Study Abroad Session via zoom

Tuesday through Friday from12:00pm-1:00pm: Study Abroad Table in the Student Center Commons
Stop by the Study Abroad table in the Student Center Commons to learn about this year’s faculty led study abroad trips.
UIU Students are invited to participate in a short 8-10-day study abroad program where they will be led by UIU Faculty and join a UIU course focusing on various programs of study. Education, Communication, Psychology, Art and Architecture, and Nursing are the various programs being focused on. Major, Minor, Gen Ed, or Elective Courses are covered by these programs! Payment plans for participants are available through the UIU Student Financial Services office and students have been pleasantly surprised how affordable it makes it.
Not a student? Want to bring your spouse/partner? Join us! Upper Iowa University has now opened up this wonderful opportunity to join a Faculty-Led Study Abroad program to UIU Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and Friends of the University!

Tuesday, November 15 at 12:00pm: Share your Travel Experiences with Career Development
Your study abroad and travel experiences can provide a unique talking point and can contribute to the skills and strengths you can provide an employer. Join Career Development in the Student Life Conference Room for an informal discussion on how your travel opportunities can be a resume builder and provide a doorway to opportunities. Feel free to bring your lunch.
Wednesday, November 16 at 12:00pm: Henna & Chinese Calligraphy
Join us in the Student Center Commons to get your name written in Chinese calligraphy and/or have beautiful designs painted on your hand or arm with Henna.
Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00pm: Karaoke
Karaoke is popular around the world! Come to the ballrooms, enjoy some popcorn and belt out your favorite tunes from around the globe. This event is sponsored by the International Student Association (ISA).
Thursday, November 17 at 3:00pm: International Coffee Hour
Enjoy some treats from the Ukraine during international coffee hour at the Student Center Commons. This recipe was provided by UIU MBA student and women’s basketball graduate assistant, Kristina Karp.
Thursday, November 17 at 2:00pm: OPT Session at 2:00pm
Are you an international student interested in working in the US after graduation? Come to the Student Life conference room to learn about the Optional Practical Training (OPT) process for students on an F-1 visa.
Friday, November 18 at 5:30pm: Trivia Night
Join the FYI Guy, trivia extraordinaire, Pat Lynch, in the Student Center Commons at 5:30pm for some international trivia.
