TO: Parents of Fayette Campus students, and Fayette Campus faculty and staff
SUBJECT: Excited to Welcome Back Students
Dear Parents,
We hope that you enjoyed the holiday season with your student(s). As students prepare to return to Fayette Campus, I want to assure you that the health, safety and success of our students are top priorities. Throughout the holiday break, University leadership has continued to communicate with and receive guidance from public health officials with regard to COVID-19 and the safe arrival of students.
As part of that plan, we are encouraging students to be tested prior to their return to Campus if they have been exposed to COVID-19 during the holiday break or have symptoms. Under the University Care Team’s guidance and support, those who test positive will be isolated, and those who were exposed or have symptoms will be quarantined, upon their return to Campus. Students have been asked to contact the Care Team at [email protected] for additional information or to update their health status.
While we know the continued precautions can pose challenges for students, we are encouraging everyone to remain committed to them. In addition to wearing masks, physically distancing, regularly washing hands, and cleaning high-touch surfaces, we are avoiding formal and informal large group gatherings. Students are also asked to continue their use of the daily COVID-19 self-screening app provided by SensorRX. This free app helps students screen themselves for symptoms and provides guidance tailored to their answers.
Beginning January 18, UIU students will have on-campus access to health care at the new Winneshiek Medical Center UIU Clinic, located in Garbee Hall. The UIU Clinic is staffed by Mayo Clinic Health System physicians, Winneshiek Medical Center advanced practice professionals, nurses and support staff.
We hope that you are as proud as we are of the commitment and dedication that our students have shown to date. With their continued help and attention to the practices described above, they continue to enjoy a great education and a somewhat altered yet rewarding campus life experience.
We sincerely look forward to inviting you back to our beautiful Campus.
Best wishes,
Danielle Cushion
Assistant Vice President for Student Life
