TO: Fayette Campus students, faculty, and staff
SUBJECT: Return to Campus
Dear students,
We hope that you enjoyed the holiday season and are ready to return to classes. As we near the start of Session 3 on Monday, January 18, your success, health and safety are still very much on our minds and our top priority. Please let us know if you need assistance in registering for classes or other support to ensure your ongoing success. We also ask for your continued vigilance in following our safety practices to reduce risk to the Campus community and beyond, such as:
- We encourage testing prior to returning to Campus if you are exposed to COVID-19 during the holiday break or have symptoms. Based on the Care Team’s guidance, those who test positive, were exposed, or have symptoms will be isolated or quarantined upon their return to Campus. For additional information or to update your health status, please contact the Care Team at [email protected].
- Be extra vigilant about wearing a mask, distancing, practicing good hygiene and following the guidelines outlined in the UIU Care Plan.
- Upon your return, please continue to utilize the COVID-19 self-screening app provided by SensorRX to honestly assess and report your health on a daily basis.
- Students are expected to conduct daily temperature checks. Any student who has a temperature of 100.4°F or higher, or is experiencing any unexplained symptoms, should contact the Care Team or Student Life office.
The following resources are available to students:
- Beginning January 18, 2021, Upper Iowa University students will have on-campus access to health care at the new Winneshiek Medical Center UIU Clinic, located in Garbee Hall. The UIU Clinic is staffed by Mayo Clinic Health System physicians, Winneshiek Medical Center advanced practice professionals, nurses and support staff. Call 563.425.5500 to schedule.
- Basic health care services are also available to all full-time students through TeleHealth. For additional health services information, contact Winneshiek Medical Center at 563.382.2911. For immediate emergency assistance call 911.
- Mental health is as important to student success as your physical health. For counseling services, contact Student Life at 563.425.5215 or Assistant Dean/Director of Counseling and Wellness Crystal Cole at 563.425.5786. Please note that UIU Counseling is available during regular business hours. For additional information on scheduling an appointment, visit uiu.edu/experience/counseling.
It’s up to every member of the UIU family to do our part in protecting ourselves and our fellow Peacock students, staff, faculty and friends. Health and safety guidelines are in place not to restrict your experience at UIU, but make sure it remains possible. Together, we are #PeacockStrong.
I wish each of you a safe, healthy and successful New Year. See you soon. Go Peacocks!
