UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY'S STATE FAIR FAYETTE CAMPUS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD OFFICIAL RULES
OFFICIAL RULES: FAYETTE CAMPUS ONE YEAR TUITION PROMOTION
AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR AUG 9th – 19st, 2012
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
By entering this contest, each participant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules.
1. HOW TO ENTER. Registrations for the Scholarship Award will begin August 9, 2012 at approximately 9AM CDT, and will continue until August 19, 2012 at approximately 1PM CDT at the Upper Iowa University Booth at the Iowa State Fair. Participants must fully complete the paper entry form available at the Upper Iowa University Booth at the Iowa State Fair and deposit the entry form where indicated at the Booth. The drawing for the winning entries will take place on August 19, 2012 at approximately 1PM CDT at the Upper Iowa University Booth.
Registration is limited to one entry per household. All duplicate entries will be null, void and disqualified, including any attempts to enter more than once by altering personal information. Upper Iowa University has no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate transcription, lost, late, misdirected, damaged or illegible entry forms.
No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of entries will be accepted. If, for any reason, this scholarship give-away is not capable of running as planned, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond the control of UIU, which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, Upper Iowa University reserves the right to cancel the promotion. All entries become the property of UIU and will not be returned.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND LIMITATIONS: The UIU Scholarship Award is only open to the following individuals:
A) Participants must be non-UIU students at least 16 years of age on August 19, 2012.
B) Parents or Legal Guardians of a non-UIU student who must be at least 16 years of age on or before August 19, 2012 may enter provided they transfer the Scholarship Award to their son or daughter.
C) Participants must also be either a United States citizen or permanent resident. Prior to accepting the prize as awarded, the winner must also complete an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and gain acceptance to UIU's Fayette campus pursuant to and in accordance with UIU's admission standards.
D) Current UIU students are not eligible, current students include any student who has already been accepted at UIU without regard to whether classes have begun.
E) If any of the eligibility requirements set forth herein are not satisfied by the winners, the Scholarship Award shall be forfeited by the winner.
3. SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: UIU will award four (4) one (1) year scholarship prizes consisting solely of tuition only. The scholarship must be used toward tuition for one of Upper Iowa University's Fayette campus undergraduate degree programs on or before fall semester 2013. The scholarship recipients must also gain acceptance to UIU based on standard admission requirements for the Fayette campus only in order to utilize the scholarship. Failure to gain acceptance will result in a forfeiture of the scholarship. Upper Iowa University will not draw an alternate winner from the entries received.
The Scholarship is for tuition only and the prize does not include books, room, board, personal computer or any other miscellaneous student fees. No monetary funds will be transferred to the student, but rather a transfer of tuition credit will be made from the UIU Business Office on behalf of the Student to establish tuition payment. The total value of each scholarship shall not exceed $24,400 for the 2012-2013 academic year and will be increased for those students who do not enroll until the 2013-2014 academic year or the fall Semester 2014 as tuition increases are approved by the UIU Board of Trustees. There is no substitution or exchange of this scholarship and transfer can only take place from a winning parent or guardian to a son, daughter or dependent high school or college student.
Winner of scholarship will be determined by a random drawing, occurring on August 19, 2012 from all eligible entries received by the deadline. The drawing and announcement of the randomly selected winners will be announced on or about 1PM CDT August 19, 2012 at the Upper Iowa University booth located in the Varied Industries Building on Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA.
Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. The winner need not be present to win. The winner will be notified by phone, e-mail and/or certified mail within 10 business days of the selection process.
4. TAXES: Any valuation of the prize(s) stated above is based on available information at the inception of the Contest. The value of any prize awarded to a winner may be reported for tax purposes as required by law. Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes related to the prize(s) and paying any expenses associated with any prize which is not specifically provided for in the official rules. Each winner must provide Upper Iowa University with valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize(s) will be awarded.
5. ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY: Scholarship winner must meet the following academic requirements for admission into UIU:
New applicants or High school students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and an ACT score of 17 or equivalent SAT score at time of enrollment to UIU. College transfer students must meet the following GPA and credit requirements at time of enrollment to UIU:

6. Students who transfer college credits will be eligible for no more than the tuition needed during one academic year to complete their degree for which they have applied. No transfer into an additional degree program will be allowed and no cash or transfer of remaining scholarship balances will be allowed.
Scholarship winner must also maintain status as a full-time student and must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA, and complete at least 12 credit hours every semester.
7. MISCELLANEOUS:
Employees and those with agency relationships to Upper Iowa University and their immediate families (defined as spouses, children, parents, siblings, in-laws) and persons living in the same household of such employees and agents are not eligible to participate.
The winner will be required to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release prior to accepting the prize. If the winner fails to execute and return the required forms within ten (10) days, the scholarship will be forfeited. All decisions of Upper Iowa University are final. Winners are required to apply and enroll for classes before or for the Fall Semester 2013 otherwise winners automatically forfeit their prize.
As a condition of participating, the winners hereby grants to Upper Iowa University permission to use their name, likeness, persona and other biographical information for advertising and other uses without compensation or prior approval unless prohibited by law. By participating, each participant A) accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and all decisions of Upper Iowa University whose decisions are final, and B) agree to release, indemnify, and hold Upper Iowa University and its directors, officers, employees and agents harmless from and against any and all claims, charges, liability, injuries or damages of any kind arising out of participants participation in the promotion or the acceptance and use of any prize.
8. LIMITATION, LIABILITY AND DISCLAIMERS: The decision of the University relating to the winner, the interpretation of the Official Rules and other matters related to this promotion are final. THE UNIVERSITY MAKES NO WARRANTY OF ANY NATURE WITH RESPECT TO THE PROMOTION OR THE PRIZE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR QUALITY OF EDUCATION. PARTICIPANTS HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT, EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH HEREIN, UNIVERSITY HAS NOT MADE ANY WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY WARRANTY OR LIABILITY RELATING TO THE PROMOTION, THE DRAWING AND USE OF THE PRIZE WHETHER IN LAW OR FACT, CONTRACT OR TORT. ALL PARTICIPANTS, BY ENTERING THIS PROMOTION, AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE OFFICIAL RULES. 10. GOVERNING LAW: This promotion is subject to applicable federal, state and local laws. All disputes surrounding the promotion and the prize awarded hereunder will be subject to the substantive laws of the State of Iowa. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Must have a high school diploma or GED by August 19, 2012. Entry constitutes participant's full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these Official Rules. Registrations for the Free Course Giveaway will begin August 9, 2012, at approximately 9AM CDT, and will continue until August 19, 2012, at approximately 9PM CDT. The drawing for the winning entries will take place at approximately 9PM CDT each night of the Iowa State Fair (August 9-19, 2011) at Upper Iowa University's booth in the Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa.

B) Current UIU enrolled student may enter the drawing to win a free class to take in one of the extended learning centers, online, or through the independent study program.
Participants must also be either a United States citizen or permanent resident. Prior to accepting the prize as awarded, the winner must also complete an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and gain acceptance to UIU in accordance with UIU's admission standards.
If any of the participation requirements set forth herein are not satisfied by the winners, Upper Iowa University MAY conduct another random drawing of eligible entries and/or select an alternate winner.

PRIZE: UIU will award one (1) free Academic Extension course consisting solely of tuition for a course taken in one of UIU's extended learning centers, online, or through the independent study program. The scholarship must be used toward tuition for one of Upper Iowa University's Academic Extension's undergraduate classes at an extended learning center, online, or independent study program on or before fall semester 2012. The scholarship recipients must also gain acceptance to UIU based on standard admission requirements for the Academic Extension -- in order to utilize the scholarship. Failure to gain acceptance to the UIU Academic Extension program will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
This award is for tuition only and does not include books, personal computer or any other miscellaneous student fees. No monetary funds will be transferred to the student, but rather a transfer of tuition credit will be made from the UIU Business Office on behalf of the student to establish tuition payment. The total value of each scholarship shall not exceed $1095.00 for the 2012-13 academic year and will be increased accordingly for those students who do not enroll until fall semester 2013 as tuition increases are approved by the UIU Board of Trustees. There is no substitution or exchange of this scholarship; and transfer can only take place from a winning parent or guardian to a son, daughter or dependent high school or college student.
The winner is solely responsible for all taxes, fees and other miscellaneous costs or expenses relating to the scholarship. Winner of scholarship will be determined by a random one-time drawing, from all eligible entries submitted within the designated promotional period. The drawing and announcement of the randomly selected winner will be posted, in the AE offices in Fayette, Iowa, and online at www.uiu.edu.
Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received during the entry period. The winner need not be present to win. The winner will be notified by phone, e-mail and/or certified mail within 10 business days of the selection process.
