Graduation Ceremonies Winter 2012
More than 400 Upper Iowa University students received their degrees during winter 2012 graduation ceremonies. Ceremonies were held at educational centers in Hong Kong and Malaysia and at four military educational centers in New Orleans, Alexandria and Fort Polk, La., and Fort Riley, Kan.
Hong Kong
A total of 92 students graduated during the 11th Hong Kong commencement held Nov. 30, 2012, in the Diamond Ballroom at the Eaton Hotel in Hong Kong. Nine students earned masters of business administration, while 83 graduated from the bachelor of science undergraduate program. Guest speaker was Dr. Mark Michelson, chairman of the Asia CEO Forum for IMA Asia. Student speakers included Kenneth Ng Shun To from the masters program and Chesta Chan Oi Wah from the undergraduate program. Acting president Dr. Richard Patrick presided.

Malaysia
UIU-Malaysia celebrated its 8th commencement ceremony graduating 252 students. Guest speaker for the event was Datuk Tim Tariq Garland, vice president of American Malaysia Chamber of Malaysia. The ceremony was marked by a performance given by UIU graduate and aspiring singer, actress and model, Zenny Salihuddin, who sang "One Moment in Time." Acting president Dr. Richard Patrick also presided.

New Orleans (Jackson Barracks), La., Center – 1 associate's degree and 14 bachelor's degree;Alexandria, La., Center – 1 associate's degree, 8 bachelor's degrees; and 1 master's of higher education administration degree;Fort Polk, La., Center – 3 associate's degrees and 26 bachelor's degrees; andFort Riley, Kan., Center – 1 associate's degree, 22 bachelor's degrees and 1 master's of public administration.
