IEC EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH - Amy Bond, student enrollment support specialist, and Jennifer Yearous, records processing specialist, are the most recent selections for the Integrated Enrollment Center (IEC) 'Employee of the Month' program. All employees directly related to IEC, including those in the Centers, are eligible for the program, and must be nominated by another employee from a different service area. Read more

CAROLINE LEDEBOER, Writing Center director and adjunct instructor in English, attended the 10th annual International Writing Center Association (IWCA) Summer Institute thanks to a $1,000 Presidential Scholarship from the IWCA. During the week-long program near Seven Springs, Penn., attendees networked with colleagues and discussed a wide variety of topics dedicated to Writing Centers and their constituents. Ledeboer said a highlight of the institute was talking one-on-one with the authors of articles she had read.
DR. RICK KLANN, Upper Iowa University's Delano Professor of Science, presented recently on research he conducted regarding parasites that infect Caribbean fishes at the Forfar Field Station in Andros, Bahamas. His presentation was titled, "Parasites of the Caribbean." His trip was made possible by the UIU Faculty Internationalization Grant (FIG) program.
DR. GRAEME ARMSTRONG, assistant professor of education, traveled to Finland to examine the Finnish higher educational system. He presented his research as part of the UIU-FIG program.

VICKIE HOUSER has joined the Office of Academic Success as the new student achievement counselor/coordinator of disability services in August. She received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology and master of arts degree in applied psychology (counseling) from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Her previous experience includes counseling, social work, and teaching in higher education. Throughout her previous experience, House has worked in the area of disability services writing and monitoring accommodation plans, as well as teaching classes in special education.
ROBIN GALLOWAY is the new instructional designer in the Center for Distance Education. In his new role, he is working with faculty and staff on instructional design issues, uses of multimedia and online course development and delivery. Read more
KRISTOPHER BLANCHARD, Ph.D., has been appointed as the master's of business administration program chair. Blanchard joins the UIU faculty as an associate professor in the Division of Business. Read more
BARBARA MURDOCK joined UIU September 4 as director of the new UIU-Mesa Center. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast journalism and management from the Arizona State University/Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications and a master of arts in organizational management/human relations from the University of Phoenix. RACHEL MAJEWSKI was promoted to assistant professor and clinical coordinator of athletic training education. She has been an Assistant Athletic Trainer and instructor at Upper Iowa University since 2009. Read more
DR. CLAUDIA MCNEELEY joins UIU as the teacher education coordinator for UIU-Mesa. Her professional experience spans 30 years as a classroom teacher, site coach, new teacher mentor, Title I district coordinator, and state education program specialist in the area of school effectiveness and K-12 literacy. DR. CONNIE GREINER was recently hired as assistant professor of education for UIU-Mesa. She comes to UIU with over 30 year of teaching experience in Arizona and Texas at the elementary, high school and college levels. She holds a bachelor's degree in home economics education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a MEd in vocational technical education and an EdD. in curriculum, supervision and instruction from Texas A & M.
DR. R. KEVIN MACKIN joined UIU as assistant professor of education on the Fayette campus. Most recently, he was a faculty member of the Graduate Teaching Licensure Program at College of St. Scholastica in St. Paul. Read more
