2017 Team Peacock Banner

Upper Iowa University’s Team Peacock will celebrate its 13th year participating in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI)—the oldest, largest and longest bicycle touring event in the world!  Since 2005, our team has raised more than one million dollars to support students and University projects. This year, Team Peacock will be making a 411-mile trek across the state of Iowa, July 22-29, for the 44th annual RAGBRAI and we want YOU to join us! RAGBRAI towns include:  Orange City, Spencer, Algona, Clear Lake, Charles City, Cresco, Waukon and Lansing. More info may be found at

Show your Support!

Why do alumni and friends join Team Peacock?

  • There’s a HUGE VALUE! In addition to gaining 40+ new friends and enjoying camaraderie along the ride, Team Peacock will pay each rider’s RAGBRAI fee ($175), and provide new riders with a Team Peacock biking jersey ($60). What a great benefit?!
  • Enjoy the luxuries of the Peacock Support Crew! Our 6-person support crew will take care of your camping accommodations on the route. Locations vary, but have included alumni residence (some with pools!), city and state parks. The support crew will set up camp each day for riders - this includes popping up your tent, and making available portable hot showers, restrooms (when not provided by host), drink stations and a breakfast bar. The camp fee includes food and beverage items including:  water, sports drinks, ice, light snacks, bananas and coffee. In addition, daily laundry service is included for riders’ jerseys, shorts and undergarments. Transportation services will ensure your personal camping gear is safely and securely transported to each town along the route. Each UIU rider shall pay a $125 camp fee which covers all the amenities previously mentioned.
  • Make a difference for Upper Iowa University! Team Peacock is a fundraising venture for UIU. Each rider may select a University fund, project or program to support. Options include, but are not limited to:  scholarships, Dean’s funds, military initiatives, UIU annual fund, and athletics. Contact the Alumni Office at 563-425-5238 to help select an option best for you. Team members are responsible for a fundraising goal, based on the categories below. 100% goal fulfillment is required by Friday, July 21, 2017.
UIU Affiliation Week-long Rider Goal Daily Rider Goal (up to 3 days)
Friend of UIU $1,000 $250/day

The Office of Institutional Advancement & Alumni Development will provide marketing and fundraising support for Team Peacock, but ultimately it is up to each participant to creatively and aggressively meet their goal.
