Certificate Programs
Upper Iowa offers certificate programs through some of its educational centers, online, and through independent study. These certificate programs, drawing from regular UIU courses, allow students to gain experience in a specific area by successfully completing a group of interrelated college credit courses. Some UIU students choose to complete a certificate program while working toward their degree.

Certificate courses are offered for credit or for non-academic credit. Whether or not you will be taking the courses for credit, you will need to complete an application for admission. Students who are not seeking credit, should notify the program staff and complete a Certificate Credit Waiver. If you are currently a UIU student, contact your academic advisor for help in coordinating certificate courses as part of your degree program. No additional application is required.
Certificate Program Transfer Credit and Financial Aid
Students may transfer 9-15 college hours of credit, including courses taken at other colleges/university, experiential learning portfolio credit through UIU, and CLEP. Upper Iowa requires that at least six hours of credit toward the certificate must be completed at UIU.
Financial aid is only available to degree-seeking students who complete the standard application and award process.
Upon successful completion, students will complete a Certificate claim form. Certificates are awarded during regular graduation dates posted by the Registrar.
