OPTION 1: FREE UIU SHUTTLE

Use this option if you are a student looking to get to or from the Fayette Campus before or after a session. This service is only offered after the conclusion of classes for a session or holiday break. Listed below are the specific dates this shuttle is available. When signing up for shuttles times, students are responsible for providing complete and accurate travel information, including flight/bus number, date/time of trip and cell phone number.

UIU SHUTTLE SIGN UP

Go to myUIU to sign up. The application is available by clicking Academics and then Student Forms on the myUIU page.

Students are responsible for providing complete and accurate travel information, including flight/bus number, date/time of trip and cell phone number. If the trip is canceled or changed, the student must notify the Event Manager at 563.425.5848. If notification of changes are not received and the student does not arrive at the scheduled time, the driver will proceed to the other scheduled stops. In case of inclement weather, shuttles will be delayed until road conditions improve.

OPTION 2: OTHER AREA TRANSPORTATION METHODS

These are various options for students looking for transportation any time. Please note these are not affiliated with Upper Iowa University. We provide information on these other area methods for your convenience.

  • Uber
    Now available statewide, Uber offers flexible ride options on demand. Get a reliable ride in minutes, at any time and on any day of the year. Compare prices on every kind of ride, from daily commutes to special evenings out. Rates vary based on location and demand.
  • Earl Public Transit
    EARL public transit offers on-demand “dial-a-ride” services. Transportation can be provided to any destination in Iowa and surrounding states. Advance trip reservations are required. All vehicles are fully accessible and are equipped with either ramps or lifts. To schedule a ride, call: 1-866-382-4259
    Rates: $1 per mile (weekdays) / $1.50 per mile (weekends)
  • Dolly’s Taxi
    Locally owned and operated taxi cab service proudly serving the Cedar Valley and beyond. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 319.242.2011 for reservations.

  • CID Airport Shuttle
    Airport Shuttle Service offers shuttle services to and from the Eastern Iowa Airport (Cedar Rapids), transportation for large groups to and from the airport or to and from local businesses, and transportation to surrounding towns and connecting airports. Many other services are available. If you would like to discuss your transportation needs, please call 1.800.725.8460.
    Rates: One person $132 (one way trip to Fayette) / Each additional persons are $10 each, so traveling in a group is much more cost effective.

UIU STUDENT ACTIVITY TRIPS

Upper Iowa University’s Student Activity group provides various trips throughout the year where transportation is also provided. Students may sign up for these trips via myUIU or by talking to the Student Activity office located in the Student Center. Look for dates and times on the yearly calendar or on posters around campus.

Some of these trips include mall/Walmart, movie, and international student trips.

Sumner Sunset Theatre trips are on Wednesdays. All transportation is provided for this trip via UIU. Students will leave campus around 9 pm and arrive back at approximately 12 am. To look at what movie is playing, visit the Sunset Theatre website. The Office of Student Activities and the Sumner Sunset Theatre have a contract that states the 9:30 pm movie on Wednesday nights is free to UIU students who present a valid UIU student ID card.

Mall/WalMart trips are on Sundays. All transportation is provided for this trip via UIU. Any student who would like to go shopping at a mall, Kmart or Walmart is welcome to sign up. The shopping trip destinations rotate between Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Dubuque and Decorah, Iowa.

Please note, Upper Iowa University students are responsible for their day-to-day transportation needs. Students are encouraged to plan appropriately for personal matters related, but not limited to: airport pick up/return, medical appointments, driver’s license needs, shopping, academic needs such as student teaching, etc.

MEDICAL NEEDS

If it is determined you need to be seen immediately and cannot find a ride with or friend or other person, contact the Office of Student Life at 563.425.5215 during business hours (M-F 8 am-5 pm). After hours (evenings and weekends), call Student Life On-Call at 563.419.8885.

HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE

A handicap accessible vehicle will be provided for any student needing transportation to participate in shuttle services and scheduled UIU trips. Students needing this form of transportation must notify the relevant department (i.e. Student Life, UIU Shuttles, International, etc.) within 24 hours of the shuttle departure. All shuttle and trip fees apply.
