Online degrees ranked by U.S. News
FAYETTE, Iowa (January 10, 2017) – The online undergraduate programs at Upper Iowa University have been ranked for the fifth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News published “2017 Best Online Programs” on its website January 10. The UIU online bachelor’s programs are ranked near the top third of online bachelor degree programs nationwide.
To determine the 2017 rankings, the publication evaluated the survey results from 311 responding schools with online bachelor’s degree programs. The schools were evaluated on their scores for student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer reputation.
“UIU is honored once again to have its online programming recognized among these highly anticipated rankings,” said UIU President William R. Duffy. “On behalf of the University’s board of trustees and administration, I would like to express our appreciation to the faculty and staff who are greatly responsible for making this recognition possible. Through the dedicated service of our educators, UIU has provided a highly respected online education program for more than 15 years. Thousands of online graduates have went on to enjoy extremely successful careers – and that is a true testament to any academic program.”
UIU Vice President for Enrollment Management Kathy Franken stressed that Upper Iowa University ensures consistent academic quality whether classes are taught on campus, at any UIU center, online or through its self-paced degree program.
"In our experience, online education is a proven way to meet the needs of today's students, especially the adult learner who may be trying to balance earning a degree with working full time and raising a family," Franken said. "Online programs allow students to fit education into their lives and, in many cases, offer the only opportunity for students to reach their educational goals. Some undergraduate students complete all their coursework online, while others will combine online programming with the more traditional face-to-face classroom experience. In fact, more than 50 percent of UIU students, take at least one course online during the academic year."
