Dear Peacock Family,
As you know, residents of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas are currently being impacted by devastating flooding. Recent reports indicate that more than 20,000 people have been rescued from floodwaters and tens of thousands more have suffered damage to homes and property.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all residents affected by this heartbreaking disaster. Specifically, we turn our concerns to the well-being of students, adjunct faculty and full-time staff at the UIU-Baton Rouge center. More than 100 students are enrolled at UIU-Baton Rouge, a location served by three full-time staff and numerous adjunct faculty. We know that at least two staff members, and no doubt many students and faculty, have experienced significant losses due to this storm. UIU students located in the Baton Rouge area are encouraged to contact Cynthia Bentley at firstname.lastname@example.org or Walter Bembry at email@example.com with any questions related to their classes or registration.
More information about how you can help members of the UIU community impacted by this flooding will be coming soon. In the meantime, those wanting to provide immediate assistance to those in the region are encouraged to visit redcross.org, call 1-800-REDCROSS, or text LAFLOODS to 90999 to donate $10.
Please join me in keeping those in Baton Rouge in your thoughts as the long process of recovery from this disaster begins.
