Next Steps for Transfers

Step 1) Schedule a Campus Visit 

Step 2) Apply for admission as early as one year before you plan to enroll.

Step 3) To complete the application process, we need your official transcripts sent from each college and university you previously attended. If you have completed less than 24 semester hours of graded transferable college credit, we also need an official copy of your high school  transcripts that lists your graduation date. Transcripts can be requested from your college registrar or high school guidance counselor.

Step 4) Apply for Financial Aid. Submit your FAFSA as early as October 1.

Step 5) In order to accept your offer of admission and reserve your spot at UIU, pay your enrollment deposit online or download the deposit card.

Step 6) If you plan to live on campus, complete the Housing Application to reserve your housing preference. Assignments are administered on a first-come, first-served basis, in the order deposits are received. For more information regarding housing, visit our residence hall page

Step 7) Sign up for one of UIU's OAR (Orientation, Advising and Registration) Days. Please bring completed forms with you on your OAR day. 

Step 8) If you are currently enrolled in classes at another institution, send final transcript(s) that lists all completed coursework to receive the maximum number of transferable college credits available to you. 

Step 9) Order your textbooks.
