SUBJECT: President’s Communication – Fayette Student FAQ Message – Fall 2020 Planning

Dear Students,

The purpose of this message is to update you on planning for the 2020 fall semester.

At this time, Upper Iowa University is preparing for face-to-face classes in Session 1, beginning August 31, 2020. UIU is committed to providing a safe learning environment and returning students will likely notice a few changes to campus as part of this effort. Many university spaces have been reconfigured so that distancing is possible. UIU has also adopted the practice of requiring students, personnel and guests to wear a mask or face covering when in group settings or when six feet of distancing is not possible (UIU students will receive a UIU logoed mask upon arriving back to campus in August). Additional cleaning and disinfecting of high touch areas will be implemented by both students and employees. These are just a few changes UIU is making to keep you safe.

We understand you may have questions. With this in mind, the FAQ section on UIU’s COVID-19 website has been updated with information about the Fall semester to communicate the numerous changes made in preparation for the safety of our students, faculty and staff while learning and working together at UIU. In addition to the FAQ, communication updates are archived for your review. Please note that the information on this page will be updated and may change based on local, state and federal guidance. UIU will carefully consider information and guidance received by local public health and the CDC when making decisions for the safety of all.

A reminder that Session Two courses are also scheduled to be delivered primarily face-to-face. Beginning Thursday, November 26 through Thursday, December 17, 2020, Session Two courses will be transitioned from face-to-face to online learning. This decision was made to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 after the Thanksgiving holiday. Please keep this in mind when arranging travel for the fall. Housing will continue to be available after Thanksgiving for those wanting to remain on campus until the Winter Break.

Thank you for your attention to this message. Please contact your advisor or Student Life at [email protected], if you have questions related to your return to the Fayette Campus. We are all in this together and must do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

We all look forward to seeing you on campus in August

Go Peacocks!
