SUBJECT: President’s Message – 2020 Commencement
Dear UIU Community,
The purpose of this message is to communicate Upper Iowa University’s decision regarding the 2020 in-person commencement ceremony on the Fayette Campus.
After much discussion with UIU leadership and review of various options, I regretfully have made the decision to cancel the 2020 in-person commencement ceremony on the Fayette Campus. UIU is making arrangements to continue to celebrate this momentous occasion virtually. While I understand an in-person ceremony is preferred, I also have no doubt that you all agree that the health, safety, and welfare of our students, visitors and employees drive this decision.
UIU will release virtual ceremonies to honor and celebrate our graduates on Saturday, May 9, 2020. Please see the following revised schedule of virtual ceremonies:
- 9:00 a.m. – Military Locations
- 11:00 a.m. – School of Business and Professional Studies
- 1:00 p.m. – School of Arts and Sciences
- 3:00 p.m. – Andres School of Education
To our 2020 Graduates: I personally invite each of you to participate in the Commencement Ceremony on May 8, 2021, and look forward to shaking your hand and personally congratulating you on this tremendous milestone and outstanding accomplishment.
Additional details will be forthcoming via email from the University Registrar, Holly Streeter, and the most up-to-date information can be found on our Commencement Page located at this link.
Thank you for your understanding regarding this difficult decision.
Very respectfully and regretfully,
Bill
William R. Duffy II, Ed.D., Ed.S.
President
