Why Get Your College Degree from Upper Iowa University?
There are over 5,000 different universities and colleges in the United State to choose from when you want to complete a certificate or degree program. What you will quickly discover is that most are basically the same and offer limited options, such as face-to-face classes or online course only.
Here at Upper Iowa University (UIU), we allow our students to earn their college degrees on their own terms. Our students are able to create learning environments that best fit their daily schedule and allow for change when the need occurs. Due to our unique, flexible course schedules, many of our students end up spending less money and time to complete their degrees.
UIU is a private, nonprofit university, founded in 1857 at our Fayette, Iowa, Campus location. Since that time, we have grown and expanded and now offer multiple learning opportunities around the world.
Our Fayette Campus is a traditional campus with students attending classes face-to-face, while living in modern residential campus facilities.
Many of our Campus students proudly represent UIU as student-athletes. We are the only NCAA Division II athletic program in Iowa and offer 16 sports, from baseball and softball to football and lacrosse, and more.
As a UIU education is an Education Built for Life, the University also has 21 education centers across the United States—as well as a center in Hong Kong—with the evening classes, expert faculty, and supportive staff students need to advance their career while still tending to family, job and other day-to-day responsibilities. UIU is also a recognized leader in online and self-paced education, so students never need to go far for an exceptional education.
UIU is also a proud participating institution in the Principles of Excellence and Yellow Ribbon programs, having been repeatedly named a top Military-Friendly University by Military Advanced Education & Transition and Victory Media.
UIU was a pioneer in online learning and has over 15 years of online learning experience. Our award-winning online learning opportunities allow our students to study from home on their own schedules.
Most of our 40 majors do offer required classes online, with the option to complete certain majors completely online without ever having to step into a traditional classroom. We now also offer different Master’s degree programs online.
Our self-paced classes are traditional pen and paper classes, and many of them do use the internet. These courses work great if you do not have reliable internet access—like if you are in the military and deployed overseas.
UIU students are provided with a number of study abroad opportunities, In 2016, Upper Iowa University was among 12 U.S. higher education institutions recognized by the Institute of International Education (IIE) Generation Study Abroad for already exceeding their goals to boost study abroad participation in year two of a five-year national initiative.
Many of our students at our Fayette Campus and center locations supplement their face-to-face classes with online classes so they can graduate faster. Others take a break from online courses to attend face-to-face classes and vice versa.
UIU allows you to mix and match our learning environments to best fit your busy life. No matter how you complete your UIU classes, they count toward your degree.
