FYS 10904 First Year Seminar
This course transitions students to higher education and prepares them for their academic journey. Faculty will guide students through an academic conversation, on an instructor-selected topic, to develop intellectual curiosity and practice critical thinking skills. An emphasis is placed on active-participatory learning through collaboration, academic discussions, oral presentation, and writing. Throughout the course students will also engage in self-exploration and reflection activities designed to foster academic and personal success, in areas such as motivation, self-awareness, responsibility, time management, study skills, academic integrity, etc. Note: It is an expectation that all first-time, full-time students take the FYS course during their first year of enrollment.
