Upper Iowa University’s Team Peacock will celebrate its 11th year participating in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI)—the oldest, largest and longest bicycle touring event in the world!
Since 2005, the 35-person UIU team has raised more than $1.4 million to support students. This year Team Peacock will be making a 462-mile trek across the state of Iowa, July 19-25, and we want YOU to join us!
More about the Ride
- Team Peacock pays each rider’s fee to RAGBRAI - that's a $160 value! Team members are responsible for reviewing and signing the UIU and RAGBRAI waiver forms.
- In 2015, RAGBRAI towns include: Sioux City, Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Eldora, Cedar Falls, Hiawatha, Iowa River Landing/Coralville, and Davenport. More info can be found at www.ragbrai.com.
- Each UIU rider pays a $125 camp fee, which covers camping accommodations that are usually hosted by UIU alumni or friends of the University. This fee also covers support crew member assistance—the individuals who set up camp/tents each day for riders, including showers/restrooms. The camp fee includes some food and drink items including: water, Powerade, ice, light snacks, bananas and coffee. In addition, daily laundry service is included for riders’ jerseys and shorts.
- All new riders are given one complimentary Team Peacock jersey. Additional gear may be purchased on your own.

Be a Team Peacock Host!
Is RAGBRAI rolling through your city this year? If so, you should consider being a Team Peacock host! Our team of 35 riders is seeking a camping location in each of the overnight cities. Our needs are pretty basic - large lawn area to set up our tents, access to water, electricity, convenient parking for our bus and support vehicles and a safe neighborhood that surrounds.
RAGBRAI will not announce the exact location of the route until later this spring, but proximity to the route is important. If you are interested in being our "home away from home," please contact the Alumni Office at 563-425-5388 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your willingness and generosity in offering to help out!
