Volunteers needed to do River Weaving
for UIU Homecoming
FAYETTE, Iowa (October 8, 2007) -- Upper Iowa University Art Professor John Siblik is again asking for volunteers to help install his environmental work of art, River Weaving, in the Volga River to be on display for Homecoming weekend, Oct. 12-13, in Fayette.
Two installation times are planned on Tues., Oct 9 at 2:30 p.m. and Wed., Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The group will meet at the Volga River in Fayette directly west of the Main St. Bridge. All ages are invited to attend this free family event but ask that children be accompanied by an adult.
The River Weaving project consists of bound willow branches, which form the “warp” of the weaving and the river is the “weft.” It is meant as a reminder of the importance of thoughtful stewardship of our natural resources. In other words, we are all connected (woven together) and nature is the fabric.

This project has received funding from The Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
