International staff hired at UIU
FAYETTE, Iowa (October 3, 2007) – Effective immediately, three new employees will join the administrative staff for Upper Iowa University’s (UIU) international office located in Fayette. They are Christopher Sanders, executive director of international programs; Cindy Larsen, coordinator for international student and scholar services; and Kristen Jorgenson, administrative assistant. This group will report to DeWayne Frazier, senior vice president for international programs.
Christopher Sanders will serve as the executive director of internation
al programs. He will be responsible for managing the operations of the Office of International Programs (OIP), the international on-line MBA program and UIU’s centers in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Prior to coming to Upper Iowa, Sanders worked as the assistant director of international education at Campbellsville University in Ky. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Sports Medicine / Exercise Science and a Masters in Business Administration from Campbellsville University. Sanders is a member of both NAFSA and OACAC, professional organizations for international educators.
Cindy Larsen will serve as coordinator for international student and scholar services.
Her responsibilities include monitoring UIU’s legal obligation to the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U. S. Department of State, which authorizes the issuance of visa-supporting documents to non-immigrants wishing to study in the U.S. Larsen will serve as liaison on matters dealing with international students, foreign universities, and immigration compliance issues.
Larsen previously worked at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky., where she was an international consultant. She received a B.S. in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology; a B.S. in human ecology from the University of Tennessee; is completing a M.Div. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and is also a member of NAFSA. Larsen has two children and two grandchildren, Abigail and Noah, and will reside in Fayette.
Kristen Jorgenson will be the administrative assistant for the international group, taking care of all organizational duties. Jorgenson has a B.A. in business management from the University of Northern Iowa, where she previously worked before joining Upper Iowa.
