UIU announces student government officers
FAYETTE, IA (December 05, 2008) -- Upper Iowa University announced the officers for the 2008-09 Student Government. They are Craig Jackson, president; Chadd Owen, vice president; Katrina Saterdalen, treasurer; and Zack Bauer, secretary.The role of Upper Iowa Student Government is to institute its constitution; represent the student body to faculty and administration; communicate constructive undergraduate opinions, as well as promote loyalty and pride in the University to current students, future students, and alumni.
"Student Government plays a crucial role in the livelihood of Upper Iowa. Their role as liaison among students, faculty and administration is just the tip of iceberg as to the responsibility shared by these student leaders," said Daryl Grove, director of student leadership and activities and Student Government advisor. "Upper Iowa is lucky to have such a dedicated group of students who strive to make the University better." Louise Scott, dean of Student Services, also serves as advisor.
Jackson is a sophomore from Grand Prairie, TX, a physical education major, member of the football team, and recently represented Upper Iowa at the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Orlando, FL in November. As president, he will serve on the President's Cabinet and the Faculty Judicial Board, as well as assist Dean Scott with other college committees.
Owen is a sophomore from Acton, CA, criminology major, member of the football team, and also represented UIU at the NLC. As vice president, he will lead the President's Roundtable, attend the Council of Residential Studies meetings, and coordinate details for any national or other affiliated student government organizations.
Saterdalen, a junior from Stewartville, MN, is a psychology major. As treasurer, she will supervise and record all revenue expenditures, prepare monthly reports, and report any misuse of allocations.
Bauer is a sophomore from Miles, IA, majoring in Biology. He will prepare, distribute and maintain the files related to all Student Government business.
