UIU PBL places at State Leadership Conference
Fayette (March 20, 2007) – Upper Iowa University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) members earned numerous awards in individual, team, and chapter events at the annual State Leadership Conference (SLC). This year’s conference was held March 3 and 4 in Iowa City on the University of Iowa campus.
Upper Iowa students competed against PBL representatives from Ashford University, Buena Vista University, Des Moines Area Community College, Grandview College, University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Iowa. Winners are invited to compete at the National Leadership Conference in June in Chicago.
Upper Iowa SLC individual award winners include: 1st Place – Dani Dreeszen (Business Graphics and Website Development; Dan Ellefson (Economic Concepts); Jessica Lang (Word Processing Fundamentals); Breina Patterson (Computer Applications and Word Processing); 2nd Place – Amanda Hayward (Marketing Concepts and Business Law); Jessica Lang (Sports Management & Marketing); Jac Wilson (Management Analysis & Decision Making); 3rd Place – Amanda Hayward (Business Math); Dan Ellefson (Payroll Accounting); Lauren Smith (Marketing Concepts and Word Processing Fundamentals); 4th Place – Dan Ellefson (Accounting Analysis & Decision Making); 5th Place – Breina Patterson (Business Math).
Upper Iowa SLC team award winners include: 2nd Place – Lauren Smith and Jac Wilson (Business Decision Making).
Upper Iowa SLC chapter award winners include: 1st Place – Local Chapter Annual Business Report (written by Amanda Hayward) and the Iowa Chapter of the Year award; 2nd Place – Largest Local Chapter Membership and Event Sponsorship awards.
In addition, sophomore Jac Wilson was elected State Historian/Reporter and will serve as a 2007-08 state officer.
