UIU player picked in 2008 MLB draft
Peacock catcher goes to Dodgers in 45th round
FAYETTE, Iowa (June 9, 2008) - UIU senior Ryan Arp, a right-handed catcher for the Peacocks, was selected in the 45th round (1356 overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
After signing a contract with Los Angeles, Arp expects to report to a Dodger rookie league team in either Utah or Florida. Arp told Peacock Head Coach Mark Danker that he was "excited for the opportunity to continue his playing career."
"I am very proud of Ryan," said Coach Danker. "He is the first Peacock in the program's history to be drafted in the Major League Draft in its present form."
