FAYETTE, Iowa (January 11, 2008) - A belated Christmas gift was given to the Fayette County Food Shelf on Wednesday, Jan. 9 on behalf of Upper Iowa University (UIU) employees. The UIU annual Christmas party was held Friday, Dec. 14 on the Fayette campus. In the spirit of giving, donations were requested at the banquet to support the local Food Shelf.
A contribution in the amount of $363 was presented to Food Shelf Assistant Manager Jan Kiel by UIU Librarian Becky Wadian. "We are so grateful for the support we receive from this community," said Kiel. "There have been reports of food banks around the area that are experiencing shortages but because of donations like this, and from many others in the area as well, we continue to do just fine."
Donations are always welcome, with used clothing and other used items for sale in the store, also. For more information about the Fayette County Food Shelf, the staff can be contacted by calling 563-425-3399.
