UIU students host fundraiser for ASB trip
To coincide with home wrestling meet, #7 Upper Iowa vs. #4 MSU, Mankato
FAYETTE, Iowa (January 24, 2008) – For over five years, Upper Iowa University (UIU) has been offering its students the opportunity to spend spring break in a positive way through its Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program. Past projects have involved building Habitat for Humanity homes throughout the U.S. along side other college students. This year, however, the group has been invited to do community service in Anchorage, Alaska in March.
To help defray travel expenses, the students going will hold a Chili Supper/Cinnamon Roll fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 3 from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the lobby of Dorman Gymnasium. The benefit will be held prior to UIU’s home wrestling meet against fourth-ranked Mankato; UIU is ranked seventh.
The meal tickets cost $5 each and can be purchased at the door. The menu includes chili, homemade cinnamon roll, celery and carrot sticks, and a drink. Gavin’s IGA and Sodexho are sponsoring the food.
Please note the fundraiser meal is optional and separate from admission to the wrestling meet.
