Fayette campus enrollment up again
FAYETTE, Iowa (August 29, 2008)-Upper Iowa University started fall term with record enrollment. More than 820 students are enrolled at the Fayette campus, the highest number since the early 1970s.
"Our enrollment numbers reflect the value students and their families place on a quality, private college education," said President Alan Walker. "It's also a tribute to the recruitment efforts of our faculty and staff, especially our Admissions staff, who work hard to help students understand that Upper Iowa is a great place to pursue their academic goals."
This fall, Upper Iowa has attracted its largest freshmen and transfer class in nearly 35 years, over 300 new students. International and non-resident enrollments were also up.
Linc Morris, vice president for enrollment management, cited several reasons for increased interest in Upper Iowa, including the university's unique two-at-a-time class schedule and new degree programs like forensic science. He also credits UIU's small class sizes, competitive financial aid opportunities, safe learning environment and impressive graduation rates with enhancing student interest.
UIU is Iowa's only Division II athletic program, which also generates interest among prospective students.
