Newly-elected student government officers
FAYETTE, IA (April 7, 2009) -- Upper Iowa University announced its new student government officers for 2009-10. They are Justin Marchant, president; Tiffany Whitcher, vice president; Melissa Kipp, secretary; and Allison Rodenberg, treasurer.
Marchant is from Oregon, WI, and is double majoring in biology and sports/athletic science. As president, he will serve on the President's Cabinet and the Faculty Judicial Board, as well as assist Louise Scott, dean of student services, with other college committees.
A biology major from Waterloo, IL, vice president Whitcher will lead the President's Roundtable, attend the Council of Residential Studies meetings, and coordinate details for any national or other affiliated student government organizations.
Kipp, Ossian, IA, is double majoring in human services and business administration. She will prepare, distribute and maintain the files for all Student Government business.
Rodenberg is from McGregor, IA, and is double majoring in marketing and financial management. As treasurer, she will supervise and record all revenue expenditures, prepare monthly reports, and report any misuse of allocations.
"Upper Iowa is lucky to have such a dedicated group of students who strive to make the University better," said Dean Scott, who also serves as advisor.
The role of Upper Iowa Student Government is to institute its constitution; represent the student body to faculty and administration; communicate constructive undergraduate opinions, as well as promote loyalty and pride in the University to current students, future students, and alumni.
