Annual Scholarships and Awards banquet held
FAYETTE, IOWA (April 24, 2009) - Upper Iowa University's annual Scholarships and Awards Recognition Banquet was held Saturday, April 4 in Garbee Hall on the Fayette campus. Over 120 scholarships and awards were granted to Upper Iowa undergraduate students who either applied or were nominated based on specific criteria.

Chelsea Arndt - Mapleton, Minnesota The Hoyt R. & Winifred Appelman Young Scholarship
Presenter: Louise Scott, Dean of Student Development
This scholarship fund was established from the estate of Winifred A. Young, to be used for tuition grants to deserving students of the University.
Landon Barnes - Anamosa, Iowa Mrs. Ina Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Presenter: Dr. Erik Olson, Professor of Chemistry/Chair, Division of Science and Mathematics
This scholarship in memory of Mrs. Ina Johnson was created by her son, Ted, a former trustee of Upper Iowa University, and his family. The recipient of this annual award is a deserving student in the biology field, selected by the awards committee and the head of the biology department.
