UIU-Cedar Rapids Center to graduate first students in May
FAYETTE, Iowa (April 21, 2009) - Three students will graduate from Upper Iowa University in May after taking classes at the Cedar Rapids center, which opened only two years ago.
Wanda Johnson will receive a B.S. in Psychology, enrolling at Upper Iowa University two weeks before the 2008 Cedar Rapids flood. "If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it," she said of her ordeal. Having transferred 90 credits from a public university, Johnson will be the Center's first graduate with a psychology major.
Sarah Kann will receive a B.S. in Accounting, transferring 66 credits from two community colleges in 2007, and also completing her degree program in two years by combining Upper Iowa University learning modalities.
Sarah Davis enrolled at Upper Iowa University in Cedar Rapid in 2007 and will earn a B.S. in Management. Davis is a transfer student from a for-profit institution and will successfully complete her degree program at Upper Iowa, utilizing multiple learning modalities-UIU's Cedar Rapids center, Online and Independent Study programs.
"The Cedar Rapids Center staff and I are honored that these students have allowed us to share in their educational journeys and look forward to hearing about the new opportunities their degrees afford them," said Center Coordinator Kristi Tisl. "As the first graduates of the Cedar Rapids Center, these students will forever hold a special place in the rich history of Upper Iowa University. "
