Upper Iowa University is auctioning this 1965 Mustang as part of Homecoming and inauguration festivities. The mustang was generously gifted by Bob and Betty Firth.
FAYETTE, Iowa (September 25, 2013) -- Upper Iowa University is auctioning a 1965 Mustang GT as part of UIU inauguration and Homecoming festivities Proceeds will go toward establishing a Military Family Services Fund endowment, which is being created to support military students and their families.
"President Bill Duffy served 20 years in the military and is a proud graduate of West Point," said Justin Marchant, UIU coordinator for community development and continuing education, who is handling the auction. "Dr. Duffy understands the importance of higher education for members of the Total Military Family, and he knows how challenging it is to continue being a student while serving your country. As part of his inauguration, he wants to fund an endowment that will help military students and their families who attend UIU."
The online auction is under way will culminate on Homecoming, Saturday, October 12. The Mustang was donated by Bob and Betty Firth. Mr. Firth, president and CEO Caballo Energy, Tulsa, Okla., is a UIU "double alumnus," earning his bachelor's degree in 1989 and a master's degree in 2000. He is chairman of the UIU Board of Trustees. Betty Firth is also a member of the UIU Board and an adjunct professor.
Details about the vehicle and the auction are available online. UIU has set a reserve price on the vehicle, and the winning bid must exceed the reserve price.
