FAYETTE, Iowa (December 16, 2013) – Upper Iowa University has been cited as a top military-friendly school in the Military Advanced Education (MAE) "2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities" for the sixth year in a row.
The MAE "Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities" is an annual list that provides information about key attributes sought by potential military students. Among key factors considered in evaluating this year's institution for inclusion in the Guide, according to MAE, are the flexibility of online learning options, extent of transfer credits accepted by degree level, on-campus ROTC, Servicemember Opportunity Colleges (SOC) participation, on-campus active duty/veteran assistance, the support provided to the families of servicemembers, faculty trained in veteran reintegration issues, presence on military installations, and full-time counselors trained in veteran-specific mental health concerns.
"Upper Iowa University is deeply honored to again be selected for this list of schools that are most attentive to the educational needs of U.S. men and women in uniform," said M. Wayne Converse, UIU assistant vice president for military affairs and business development. "Throughout our university history, we have emphasized service to active members of the military and veterans by offering a variety of affordable, learning experiences that allow efficient completion of a college degree despite deployments and the other responsibilities of serving your country."
