FAYETTE, Iowa (August 1, 2013) – Upper Iowa University is ranked in the top half of Iowa colleges and Universities for best return on investment. What that means for college students and their families, on average, is that a degree from Upper Iowa will mean they can earn a higher income than if they had a degree from most of the other colleges providing educational opportunities in the state.
The rankings were issued Monday, July 29, by AffordableCollegesOnline.org (AC Online), a primary web-based resource for college affordability and financial aid information. AC Online identified the Iowa colleges and universities with the greatest lifetime return on investment (ROI) noting that graduates from these schools enjoy the largest earnings gap between non-degree holders over 30 years, and earn more on average than graduates from other Iowa schools. This is the first time AC Online has issued the ROI rankings.
After analyzing 95 colleges and universities serving Iowans, AC Online ranked 22 of them on ROI for students, with UIU ranking in the top 50 percent. The complete rankings can be found at www.affordablecollegesonline.org/online-colleges/iowa. According to AC Online, its assessment included all classifications of UIU students from undergraduate to graduate, from the traditional campus in Fayette, to the off-campus education centers, to the distance education programs.
"We are very pleased to see that Upper Iowa is ranked among Iowa schools with the best return on investment for students," said UIU president William R. Duffy II, Ed.D, Ed.S. "We are proud of our aggressive efforts to keep college costs affordable and to maintain one of the lowest after-graduation debt levels in the state. Our graduates earn degrees that qualify them to launch successful careers that make a significant difference in their lives."
"These are important lists for prospective students to consider," said AC Online founder Dan Schuessler. "We've sifted through comprehensive data sources to find colleges and universities in Iowa that offer a high quality education with consistent, long-term payoffs in the workplace."
The AC Online ranking are based on the ROI according to PayScale's 2013 College Value Report. AC Online reviewed data from public and private, four-year, degree-granting institutions in Iowa that are fully accredited institutions. Data sources were the National Center for Education Statistics, reports of the Integrated Postsecondary Data System, Carnegie Classifications, and the Payscale report that collects salary data.
