Upper Iowa University awards scholarships, free courses during State Fair

UIU President Alan G. Walker pulls the names of the 14 winners of 3 UIU scholarships and 11 free courses during the Fair.

FAYETTE, Iowa (August 30, 2010) — During the 2010 Iowa State Fair, Upper Iowa University awarded three, one-year tuition scholarships to its Fayette campus and 11 free courses that can be taken at a UIU education center, online or as independent study.
The awards went to students who entered their names into drawings at the UIU booth at the Iowa State Fair, August 12-22.
“We look forward to the State Fair every year and the opportunity to meet with future students, parents, and UIU alums,” said UIU President Alan G. Walker. “We change people’s lives when we award these scholarships and free courses. When these students become part of Upper Iowa University, they have the opportunity to get a college education that will prepare them for something greater in their lives. We’re proud to be able to give them that start in life.”
Winners of the three, one-year tuition scholarships to UIU’s Fayette campus are:

A winner of a free UIU courses was drawn each day of the Fair. The 11 winners are:

- Jennifer Hild, Evansdale, IA

More than 35,000 people visited the Upper Iowa University booth during the State Fair, including 468 UIU alumni. More than 820 individuals entered the drawings for the scholarships and free UIU courses.
