Upper Iowa University is also a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges and SOCNAV. In addition to our Navy partner rating-related degree option, UIU offers degrees for all Navy rates. UIU has two distance learning options tailored to fit the dynamic lifestyle of today's Navy personnel and their families. The Rating Related Program page will show you how your rating credit will transfer to a degree at Upper Iowa University.
The Online Program delivers courses via the Internet, bringing the classroom to your fingertips. Six eight-week terms are offered annually allowing you to begin your degree pursuit during any term.
Our Self-Paced Degree Program, offered in both paper and web-based formats, is specifically designed to make learning as flexible as possible. More than 100 courses are available and you can take up to six months to complete each course. Using texts, study guides, and other course materials, you will learn by completing specific lessons and assignments. Depending on the format of the course, assignments and communication are delivered via the web-based classroom, mail or email and you work at your own pace with your instructors.

The Self-Paced Degree Program is modeled after traditional correspondence learning. It is a paper/email/web-based program specifically designed to make learning as flexible as possible. You may enroll in a course at the beginning of each calendar month during the year and take up to six-months to complete the course.
For those who prefer interaction with other students, the Online Degree Program enables completion of courses in a virtual classroom environment. You can log on to your course at any time. Six eight weeks terms are offered each year.

The UIU Self-Paced Degree Program is a guided, independent study system through which you set your own pace and schedule for coursework. Materials are transferred via mail, e-mail or fax, so you can study anytime and in any place. There is also a web based format for this program.
If you have access to the Internet, you can achieve your educational goals through the UIU Online Program.
