Open house at the Advancement and Alumni Center will be held on Friday, September 25, 1-5 p.m., and Saturday, September 26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Pick up a schedule and campus map, sign the antique guest book and reconnect with friends from the past. Get a free Homecoming button and coupon for a free gift at the Peacock Connection store (while supplies last). A continental breakfast will be available on Saturday.

Reunions and Banquets

All alumni and friends are invited to the Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday night and the Alumni Banquet on Saturday night. On Friday, new members of UIU’s Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted. Also on Friday, members of the Class of ’59 will gather for an informal luncheon in the Solarium, and Saturday evening will be presented with their 50-year medallions at the Alumni Banquet. Alumni Awards will be given at the banquet for Service to the University, Community Service, Professional Accomplishment and Young Alumni. A special invitation is extended to the honor classes of 1949, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2004. Photos of honor classes and award winners will be taken at 5 p.m. in the Presidential Dining Room, Garbee Hall. Please return your registration form by September 18*. Come and see the campus building expansion drawings which will be displayed at the banquets and hear about these exciting new plans for the University!

Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament

A four-person best shot golf tournament on Friday, September 25, at Big Rock Country Club will begin with registration at 10:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. Please return your registration form by September 18* or call 563-425-5244.

UIU Art Department Faculty Exhibit

Visit the Bing-Davis Memorial Gallery in Edgar Fine Arts Hall Friday from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to view the talents of Upper Iowa University’s Art Department faculty. Featured will be recent works by Elissa Cox, assistant professor of art, Dr. Don McComb, professor of graphic design, and John Siblik, associate professor of art. A Homecoming reception and gathering for art alumni will be held in the gallery Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Top ’O The Clock Peacock Walk

Join Paul (’60) and Sharroll (Fay) Richards at 10 a.m. Friday as they lead you on an invigorating and beautiful walk on Fayette’s recently expanded trail. There is no charge, but preregistration is requested on the attached reservation form. Participants will meet at the Advancement and Alumni Center.

History Treasure Quest/Peacock Geocache Challenge/Disc Golf Tournament

(Running 8 a.m. Friday through the start of the football game on Saturday - check-in point, Advancement and Alumni Center)

History Treasure Quest. Participants will stroll the campus sidewalks looking for different points of interest and historical landmarks. Hosted by Joel Kunze of Marketing and Communications.

Peacock Geocache Challenge. An advanced treasure hunt will take participants to local area points of interest and points of historical significance to Upper Iowa University and Fayette. Hosted by Kata McCarville and the Division of Science and Mathematics.

Disc Golf Tournament. This event will send players to the long and challenging Upper Iowa disc golf course that runs alongside the soccer and football fields and through the Churbuck Prairies. Participants are encouraged to bring their own discs, however there will be some available to check out. Cohosted by Outdoor Pursuits and Facilities Management and Services.

Department Open Houses

Several departments will be holding open houses during Homecoming. The Division of Science and Mathematics will hold a Student Project Showcase to describe their projects to visitors on Friday, 1-2:30 p.m. in Baker-Hebron Science Hall. Check at the Advancement and Alumni Center or online for exact locations and times for other open houses.

Acacia Reunion

The Acacia Fraternity is inviting all Acacia alumni to a reunion at this year’s Homecoming to celebrate the 35th anniversary of its charter. A tailgate will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the parking lot south of the Recreation Center. Following the football game a reception will be held at Big Rock Country Club at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. RSVP by September 1 to Jeff Stavnes at 712-732-2219 or jstavnes@iw.net or to Mike Knickrehm at 563-320-0894 or iron_mike@mchsi.com.

Handicapped Parking

On Saturday several handicapped spots will be reserved on a first-come first-serve basis in the parking lot at the south end of the soccer field next to Eischeid Stadium. Beginning at noon, extra parking and rides will also be available by the Victory Gate on Union Street for those unable to walk to the stadium.
