The Sports Communication major at UIU allows you to explore the role of sports in our society and the relationship between sports content and the audience. As communications professionals, you will gain competence in print and broadcast writing, research, and general communication theory, as well as a background in sports law, administration, and marketing. Faculty will help you gain an understanding of social media and ethical responsibility, both of which are imperative for the sports communication professions.
You will be prepared to enter a career immediately after graduation or for continued graduate studies. Popular career choices include: e-news coordinator, sports information, sports media communications assistant, sports promoter, sports reporter, sports social media coordinator, and sports writer.
