If you want a career related to physical activity, this major is for you. You will not only learn how health, physical activity, and social factors relate to the sports and fitness industries, but you will also get hands-on-experience led by educated faculty.
As an Exercise and Sports Studies major, you take core classes that give you a solid foundation in exercise and sports studies, and select an emphasis to focus on an area of interest. All the emphases are designed to prepare you for continued studies at the graduate level. You may choose an emphasis in sports administration, fitness and wellness, recreation, or sports studies.
Students can also minor in Exercise and Sports Studies.
A degree in Exercise and Sports Studies provide you with adequate preparation to begin a career in any of these settings: professional athletics, college/university strength and conditioning, high school, health and fitness industry, personal training, corporate fitness, sports medicine clinics, exercise physiology/research, community organizations, military, athletic administration, cardiac rehabilitation, sports psychology, and coaching.
